- Ok, so I see all three sides of the story, and I suggest you stay with Demon.
-
- Briefly, Zetnet runs dynamic IP allocation, which is a pain. Not that it's a
- massive problem- it's just that it makes some things difficult. I personally
- wouldn't like a dynamic IP account. Demon is having problems at the moment, but it
- isn't their fault. They simply cannot get enough external bandwidth because of the
- current state of the internet. Cityscape (Yes, my bosses) don't come into the
- equation because they buy their feed direct from Demon.
-
- From an amiga point of view, there is little to choose from. You're on your own
- (save for other amigans). If you're not technologically adept, then you should
- maybe go where there's a large crowd of amiga users (i.e. Demon right now). Here at
- Cityscape, I shouldn't think we will *ever* support the amiga, unless the new
- machines really take off in a big way. Zetnet... well, I was asked to organise a
- dialler for the amiga for their dynamic accounts, but didn't get it sorted out
- before I had to do other stuff. They seem keen to support the amiga, maybe because
- Dave Gorski was an amiga fan way back when.
-
- So. To sum up, if money is the problem, then sure- you'll suffer dynamic IP. If you
- want to do anything esoteric, then there's only one choice. Demon. It has the
- largest base of Amiga users against any other ISP in the UK, offers static IP, and
- is getting to be a large and efficient company. Demon get about the closest to real
- amiga support on their front-line desks, but demon.ip.support.amiga is a great
- place for help.
-
- Ick. Reccomending a competing company. The boss will kill me. ;)
